Sue Gunderman was to be our keynote speaker, and we hope that she will be available when we can reschedule!
Sue Gunderman has more than 20 years in the human service field and more than a decade of that time has been spent working in the field of reentry providing comprehensive services to incarcerated parents. Sue has been with the Greater Hartford Reentry Council for the past nine years and one of its leaders for nearly seven years. During this time, she has built a proven track record as a leader in reentry through her collaborative approach to fostering successful relationships with community partners to provide quality services to individuals returning home from incarceration.
In April 2018, Sue joined the Office of Mayor Luke A. Bronin as the Interim Director of Reentry Services for the City of Hartford, CT. In this role, Sue’s primary focus has been planning and preparing for the successful opening of the Reentry Welcome Center which took place in September 2018. She worked collaboratively with Community Partners in Action to bring over 40-plus partners to provide wrap-around support services to the participants utilizing the Center.
In addition to getting the Reentry Welcome Center opened, she is leading the City of Hartford’s efforts to increase the number of local employers hiring individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system. She is currently working on her seventh reentry job fair to take place this April. She participates on numerous committees to address various barriers to reentry and advocates for policy reform.
Sue’s other projects include the “Hire One” campaign which she created to encourage employers to be the key to hiring individuals with blemished records and gain a workforce for the future. She worked with the Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy at Central Connecticut State University to create a statewide reentry website called WWW.CTreentry.Org to centralize resources and information for Connecticut.
Sue holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut.
In addition to our speaker, there will be panel discussions with returning citizens and their families. Q & A sessions will follow each panel discussion.
Beverages and snacks will be offered throughout the Forum, and a light lunch will be served, all included in your $10 registration fee.
